Today, I stopped in for some takeout. They currently have special pricing for specific items on their menu items if you order for takeout. I picked up Mi Quang (tumeric noodles) for my wife to have for lunch/dinner. I didn't know until I saw the price was lower than it normally is. Score!
For years now, Hue has been my go-to spot, and they consistently impress. The servers are incredibly kind, and they serve some of the finest central Vietnamese cuisine around! I always order the Banh Beo (Steamed Rice Cake with Ground Shrimp) and the Bun Bo Hue from here. The Bun Bo Hue broth is just right--not too spicy, perfect for my spice tolerance. Parking can be a challenge inside Paloma Plaza, but I recommend having one person go and put their name down while the others search for a parking spot.
Date: Thursday, July 4th, 2024 Party of: 2 Meal: Late Lunch / Early Dinner Delivery How: DoorDash DoubleDash Time Ordered: around 3:15pm Time Arrived: around 4:15pm Delivered to: Evergreen *Bún Bò Huế ($16.50) *Mì Quãng ($16.50) *Bánh Bèo ($6.95) *Bún Thịt Nướng ($16.50) I was craving Bun Bo Hue. When I realized I never tried Hue Restaurant, I figured let's give it a shot. Plus it's in a plaza with a boba tea spot and I was craving that as well. I got the banh beo since that seems to be the thing to order here. Even delivered it was good. Good amount of dried shrimp, tho I could have used more jalapeños. Added sambal for a kick. The bun bo hue broth could have used more flavor, but I was able to add 4 different hit sauces to give it some heat and savoriness. The noodles however were waaay overcooked. Maybe from transit? I'm not a huge noodle person anyways, so it didn't bother me. I did adore how much veggies they provided with the noodle soup. Since there wasn't much meat. The hubby typically likes straight up #1 pho. They don't offer it here, so he decided to try the mi quang. The broth was more tomatoey than he expected, but add a bunch of hot sauces and it cuts into the sweetness. He always orders the bun thit nuong, so that was as expected. I've had this place bookmarked for a while, so glad I finally tried this spot. REVIEW #3483
Key Points: - Authentic Central Vietnamese Food - BBH was excellent After a delightful visit to the Children's Discovery Museum, the Mrs. the Little One and I were craving Vietnamese food. We thought about going to Thanh Long but they didn't accept credit cards! So we co Sutter Yelp and we stumbled upon Hue. Although a couple of flies were buzzing around, the place was otherwise clean. Here's what we ordered: Banh bot loc -- first time trying this dish. It was chewy, sweet, savory, and despite what The Mrs. warned me about, not jaw-breaking. Bun Bo Hue + oxtail - spicy, tangy, and rich, it's likely the best I've ever had! Though admittedly, I'm not an expert on Vietnamese food like the Wife. Suong sau hat Luu -- my usual favorite Che/dessert/beverage. Their version had BOTH grass jelly and clear jelly, a perfect balance to our savory meal. Overall, Hue offers an authentic taste of central Vietnamese food. Service was quick and efficient. Meal was affordable.
Authentic Hue cuisine! We're been here a few times. Their banh beo and banh it ram is solid. Yummy bun bo hue. Can get very crowded during peak hours. Friendly staffs. Nice choice for family lunch/dinner. They have some tables outdoor too.
Pretty good bbh. Enough flavor, meat portion and overall quality was good. If you're a light eater I feel like the bowl is great portion with just enough noodles. Bánh bột lọc was so good, one of the best I have had. Bánh bèo was ok, nước mắm coule be a little improved . Prices were ok overall for the quality. Customer service was great. Highly recommend this place if you're visiting SJ like us and looking for some good bbh or hue appetizers.
Hue Restaurant was recommended by a friend of mine to check out. Hue offers lots of central Vietnamese food options on the menu. WAIT My SO and I arrived around 7 PM on a Friday. The restaurant was bustling, but luckily, we seated quickly. SERVICE/AMBIANCE Attentive and fast. The restaurant was busy and pretty noisy. FOOD We started with two small plates. * Banh Beo: Each small saucer was topped with dried shrimp, caramelized onions, scallions, and pork rind bits. A dipping sauce is provided to dress the Banh Beo. * Banh Nam: One of my favorite Vietnamese foods is the flat steamed rice dumplings. One order comes with 2. The Banh Nam are wrapped in banana leaves, which give a fragrant taste and aroma. The rectangular rice dumpling is topped with minced pork and dried shrimp. Flavorful and delicious. * Bo Luc Lac: My SO ordered the shaken beef entree, which comes with tomato fried rice, pickled radish, carrots, cucumbers, and lettuce. The dish's star, the beef, was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and tasty. The onions and bell peppers added depth to the dish. Option to order garlic noodles instead. * Banh Xeo: This entree was tasty. The Banh Xeo was packed with slices of pork (not fatty), small shrimp, and bean sprouts. Not stingy at all. The crepe was thicker than I wanted, but it made sense for a restaurant entree. Why not make a giant, thick crepe? Most importantly, the crepe was super crispy, so I didn't mind it. The entree was accompanied by plenty of herbs, veggies, and a solid fish dipping sauce. I prefer more lime and garlic in the fish sauce, but it's more of a preference. Overall, Hue is a very good restaurant to satisfy your cravings for all central types of Vietnamese cuisine. They have an array of options to choose from such as Bun Bo Hue, Bun Rieu, Banh Canh, Com/Bun Hen, and more!
As a name, suggest, this restaurant specializes in food from Hue or the central Vietnam region. The atmosphere of the place is always frenetic it seems, because of its popularity. And I would say the service is good or at least what is on par with restaurants in the area. This place is family owned and operated it seems. It's been a while since my last review here. And since then, I've seriously visit this place like 3 to 4 times. It's one of my parents' favorite place in San Jose. My most recent trip, I brought my parents here to grab a nice lunch to hang out with the three of us. For the table we got the banh beo and banh it ram. My parents split a mi quang and I got the banh canh cha ca or noodle soup with fish cakes. I wanted to change it up a little bit since I've been here quite a few times now. If it's your first time visiting, definitely get the bun bo hue or the mi quang. Definitely their specialties also try and order the appetizers I mentioned above. I could see why this place is a favorite among my family. I really enjoy coming here every time.
